Curriculum at Little Jewels
At Little Jewels Learning Center, our teachers implement a center-wide, theme-based curriculum for children involved in daycare, preschool, or pre-k. Fun and creative weekly themes are researched in-depth by our staff and leadership teams. Our qualified teachers follow the Illinois Early Learning Guidelines for ages birth to 36 months, as well as, the Illinois Early Learning Standards for 36 months to 5 years old. Standards that are focused on during the week will also be listed with the lesson plans for parents to view.
Overall, our goal is to ensure that each child is receiving the highest level of early education. We promise to provide your child with every critical learning opportunity necessary to help them excel socially, emotionally, and academically. We have monthly math and science concepts, in addition to the weekly themes. The Little Jewels staff recognizes the first few years that we spend with our students are precious. We strive to provide solid foundations for children to help create a successful transition to elementary school.
April Steigerwald is Little Jewels’ Director of Curriculum. She has been with Little Jewels since we opened our doors in 2004 and has over 16 years of experience in childcare. Throughout each month, April personally interacts with the children in several different ways. Whether it’s a special visit from a community member, or a Social Emotional Lesson for kids ages three and up, there is always something fun and educational happening at Little Jewels! Along with the enriching activities that the teachers have planned for your child, the students will also participate in music, sign language lessons, and even gymnastics for children 15 months and older, once every week.
